William and Fay Sinkin papers, 1928-1998.

The William Sinkin Papers, 1928-1993 document the Sinkin's longstanding commitment to civic issues. Community is the largest series, covering Sinkin's leadership roles in the 1960's and 70's, particularly in HemisFair'68, the Bexar County Hospital, and Urban Coalition. Sinkin's political papers highlight his involvement in the Democratic Party, public housing, and the Jewish community. The banking series documents Sinkin's role as a respected banker active in improving the community. The Fay Sinkin series documents her involvement in water issues, early work with the League of Women Voters on public health issues in the late 1940's, leadership of the Aquifer Protection Assoc., term as director of the Edwards Underground Water District Board (1983-1989), formation of the Edwards Aquifer Preservation Trust, opposition to the Applewhite Dam Project. It also includes files on toxic pollution, Xeriscaping, water modification, and videotaped interviews (1997) about her role in the community and the Visiting Nurse Association.

William Sinkin was active in public housing and chairing the San Antonio Housing Authority Board from 1949-1953.
